A Rugged FBG-Based Pressure Sensor for Water Level Monitoring in Dikes

This paper describes the implementation of an FBG sensor to measure water levels in a dike. The is based on 3D-printed mechanical transducer through which external pressure converted into longitudinal strain exerted fiber. An additional integrated within measures temperature and used compensate for effects first FBG. By employing aluminum alloy case, suitable operations harsh environments rough installation procedures. Four sensors this kind have been successfully tested real scale dike at Water Proof Holland facility Netherlands.
